Wieder eine Anthologie, bei der mich hauptsächlich Tanya Huffs Beitrag reizte - "Your Three O'Clock is Here" war auch sehr vergnüglich zu lesen - aber auch die allgemeine Synopsis, wie alte Götter sich heutzutage über Wasser halten machte mich neugierig. Anubis, der als Magier seine Herzprüfung auf der Bühne als Show präsentiert, Hera als Eheberaterin, drei walisische Göttinnen Kigfa, Gowein und Arrianrhod als Rechtsberaterinnen und Leiterinnen eines Frauenhauses, Charon als Taxiunternehmer, Bastet als Leiterin einer Reproduktionsklinik, Baron Samedi als Kirmesattraktion, Baba Yaga als Restaurantbetreiberin - usw. Interessant am Rande wie in fast jeder zweiten Geschichte die Pandemie auf die eine oder andere Weise thematisiert wird.

Story is a precious gift, and more a precious responsibility. She who holds the tale shapes what others understand. But there is never only one tale. Two sides, the men say, but the truth is there are many, many more. All those passers-by, those unnamed servitors and soldiers, artisans and farm workers and factory hands; each of them has their own version, with themselves at its heart. We are taught as women to feel afraid at this centering: we are trammeled to be mere bit-players in our lives. But that is not the whole of us, nor yet the right. It is just one form of the story, and one told by men.

We sat, four women, in an arc, one for each season, each age. Men cast the turning of the year in terms of battle, the new king against the old, but time is not linear and women spin the wheel.
