Mary Crawford kommt in Jane Austens Mansfield Park ziemlich schlecht weg, aber dafür schreibt sie recht witzige Briefe:

"..From all that I hear and guess, Baron Wildenheim's attentions to Julia continue, but I do not know that he has any serious encouragement. She ought to do better.
A poor honourable is no catch, and I cannot imagine any liking in the case, for take away his rants, and the poor baron has nothing. What a difference a vowel makes!
If his rents were but equal to his rants! .."

Diesmal ein - zugegebenermassen - leicht kranker Witz,
der wahrscheinlich auch schon einen Bart hat - aber nevertheless: enjoy!

When Mozart passed away, he was buried in a churchyard. A couple days later, the town drunk was walking through the cemetery and heard some strange noise coming from the area where Mozart was buried.
Terrified, the drunk ran and got the priest to come and listen to it. The priest bent close to the grave and heard some faint, unrecognizable music coming from the grave. Frightened, the priest ran and got the town magistrate.
When the magistrate arrived, he bent his earto the grave, listened for a moment, and said, "Ah, yes, that's Mozart's Ninth Symphony, being played backwards."
He listened a while longer, and said, "There's the Eighth Symphony, and it's backwards, too. Most puzzling."
So the magistrate kept listening; "There's the Seventh... the Sixth... the Fifth..."
Suddenly the realization of what was happening dawned on the magistrate; he stood up and announced to the crowd that had gathered in the cemetery, "My fellow citizens, there's nothing to worry about. It's just Mozart - decomposing."

Bei dem folgenden Wortspiel fürchte ich ja, daß es schon allen Potter-Fans bekannt ist, aber mir ist es beim ersten Lesen des vierten Bandes (den ich jetzt zur Auffrischung wieder rausgeholt hatte) einfach nicht aufgefallen. Vielleicht weil man dabei die Worte sozusagen hören muss beim lesen? Oder vielleicht hatte ich es auch gefunden und wieder vergessen, immerhin ist es schon wieder 3 Jahre her. Trotzdem füge ich es hier mal ein, vielleicht hat ja doch der eine oder andere meiner geschätzten Leserschaft seinen Spaß daran.

"Oh Professor, look! I've got an unaspected planet! Oooh, which one's that, Professor?"
"It is Uranus, my dear," said Professor Trelawney, peering down at the chart.
"Can I have a look at Uranus, too, Lavender?" said Ron.
Most unfortunately, Professor Trelawney heard him, and it was this, perhaps, which made her give them so much homework at the end of the class.
