I'm moving on alone over ground that no one owns
past statues that atone for my sins
There's a guard on every door
and a drink on every floor
overflowing with a thousand amens
.
And it's hard to say
who you are these days
but you run on anyway
Don't you Baby?
You keep running for another place
to find that saving grace
Don't you Baby?
(Tom Petty, aus 'Saving Grace', Highway Companion)
.
When the music's over,
when the music's over,
when the music's over,
turn out the lights, turn out the lights,
turn out the lights -
for the music is your special friend.
Dance on Fire as it intends,
music is your only friend until the end,
until the end, until the end.
Cancel my subscription to the resurrection,
send my credentials to the houses of detention,
I've got some friends inside.
The face in the mirror won't stop.
The girl in the window won't drop.
A feast of friends alive she cried,
waiting for me outside.
Before I sink into the big sleep
I want to hear, I want to hear
the scream of the butterfly.
Come back, baby, back into my arms.
We're getting tired of hanging around,
waiting around with our heads on the ground.
I hear a very gentle sound,
very near, yet very far, very soft and very clear,
come today, come today.
What have they done to the earth?
What have they done to our fair sister?
Ravaged and plundered and ripped her and bit her.
Stuck her with knives in the side of the dawn.
Tied her with fences and dragged her down.
I hear a very gentle sound.
With your ear down to the ground.
We want the world and we want it
we want the world and we want it
we want the world and we want it
NOW NOW NOW
Persian night! See the light!
Save us, Jesus, save us.
So when the music's over
when the music's over,
when the music's over,
turn out the lights, turn out the lights,
turn out the lights -
for the music is your special friend.
Dance on Fire as it intends,
music is your only friend until the end,
until the end, until the end.
(The Doors/Jim Morrison, aus "Strange Days", 1967)
Dieser Teaser war das einzige, was ich auf die Schnelle bei Youtube finden konnte, was nicht geblockt war. Sei's drum, in der Kürze liegt die Würze.
Das Video zu dem Song wäre mir allerdings lieber gewesen:
Well I may shake your hand but I won't know your name
The joke in your language don't come out the same.
There's times when I'm down and there's nothing to blame.
.
I need a big weekend. Kick up the dust. Yeah a big weekend. If you don't run, you rust.
.
I can work, I can travel, sleep everywhere
Cross every border with nothing to declare
You can look back Babe but it's best not to stare ...
.

(Tom Petty, "Big Weekend", aus "Highway Companion")
Heute jährt sich Jim Morrisons Todestag zum 40. Mal.
When the music's over
When the music's over
Turn out the lights
Turn out the lights
Turn out the lights
for the music is your special friend
Dance on Fire as it intends
Music is your only friend
until the end
until the end
until the end
They are waiting to take us into the severed garden
Do you know how pale & wanton thrillful death comes on a strange hour
unannounced, unplanned for,
like a scaring over-friendly guest you've brought to bed
Death makes angels of us all and gives us wings
where we had shoulders, smooth as raven's claws
No more money, no more fancy dress
This other kingdom seems by far the best
until its other jaw reveals incest
and loose obedience to a vegetable law
I will not go
Prefer a feast of friends to the Giant family.
