Tanya Huff, Swan's Braid and other tales of Terizan

Wunderschöne und sehr unterhaltsame Fantasy-Kurzgeschichten um eine außergewöhnliche Diebin - besonders "The Lions of Al'Kalamir und "The Things Everyone knows" gefielen mir am besten - was will man mehr. Ich hatte nie verstanden, warum Tanya Huff nie in einem Sword & Sorceress-Band auftaucht, erst bei der Einleitung des nächsten Buches von ihr begriff ich es. Well, their loss. "Third Time Lucky" ist schon halb durchgelesen, und jetzt ist das einzige was ich bedauere, dass es nicht noch mehr solche Kurzgeschichten gibt.

wird der "L'Homme qui tire plus vite que son ombre" aka "Lonesome Cowboy" schon - ich kanns kaum glauben. Na dann:

Joyeux Anniversaire, cher Lucky Luke! And good ole Jolly Jumper natürlich auch. Und von mir aus auch die Daltons. Und Rantanplan - obwohl der meines Erachtens erst später zur Serie kam. Aber egal. Worauf es letztendlich hinausläuft ist, daß ich mir wohl in nächster Zeit wieder ein Heft reinziehen werde. Oder zwei. Oder drei.

Ian Rankin, Rather be the Devil

Auch der neueste Band der "Edinburgh-Team" Reihe funktioniert wieder ganz wunderbar, mit den drei Ermittlern Clarke, Fox und Rebus, die sich immer wieder zusammenraufen müssen, obwohl sie sich bei der Aufklärung von zwei Fällen, die sich wider Erwarten doch als ein zusammenhängender Fall herausstellen, so hervorragend ergänzen. Und dass Rebus am Ende so optimistisch gestimmt zu sein scheint, lässt hoffen, dass es noch lange mit der Serie weitergeht.

Oh Mann, kann es jetzt mal langsam gut sein? Jetzt ist auch noch Leonard Cohen gestorben. Mit neueren Songs von ihm tat ich mich immer schwer (vielleicht ändert sich das jetzt), aber die Songs aus 'Various Positions' und 'I'm your Man' wie etliche Songs aus früheren Alben sind mir so präsent und nahe, dass ich sie mir kaum noch anzuhören brauche. Der Gedanke, dass es den lebenden Sänger und Dichter dahinter nicht mehr gibt, tut so weh.

Marion Zimmer Bradley's Sword & Sorceress 31"

Das erste Mal, dass ich diese Anthologie als E-Book lese, und bis jetzt hab ich es nicht bereut, vor allem weil die Printausgabe offenbar immer schwieriger zu bekommen ist, während die Kindleausgabe sofort verfügbar war, obwohl mir erst eine Woche nach Erscheinen einfiel, dass ich die diesjährige Ausgabe noch nicht geordert hatte (wie so oft). In ihrer (diesmal relativ kurzen) Introduction beschreibt Elisabeth Waters den roten Faden oder das Thema der diesjährigen Ausgabe als 'Dinge, die nicht das sind, was sie zu sein scheinen' und wie dieses Motiv in der Fiktion viel weiter ausgebaut werden kann.
