Terry Pratchett, Moving Images

Das ist einer der Discworldbände, die ich schon länger mal wiederlesen wollte, aber mich irgendwie nie zu aufraffen konnte (genau wie z.B. Last Continent, Interesting Times, Thud ... etc. etc.). Und dann war ich einmal mehr überrascht, wieviel ich daraus komplett vergessen hatte. Einmal mehr machten die ganzen Anspielungen auf Filmklassiker und das ganze Hollywood-Drumherum so richtig Spaß und wie Pratchett das alles so gekonnt in eine Horrorgeschichte einbindet. Es gibt eigentlich keinen Discworldband bis nach Nr. 37 den ich nicht mag, aber dieser läuft bei mir wahrscheinlich unter den ersten 10 - 20 oder so.

Ja, es war absehbar, dass ich 'Making Money' auch wiederlesen würde. Ein paar andere Discworldbände folgen vielleicht noch - nicht unbedingt 'The Truth' aber wer weiß - aber dieser machte wieder richtig Spaß. Und erstaunlicherweise fand ich auch diesmal wieder einiges an Zitaten.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that has left bruises down the centuries, even more than 'It can't hurt if I only take one' and 'It's all right if you only do it standing up'.

Diesen Band, vielleicht der letzte "echte" Discworld-Band, wollte ich schon länger wiedergelesen haben, schon weil es nicht nur um Fußball geht sondern dieser auch so herrlich erklärt wird, dass selbst totale Fußballmuffel ihren Spaß haben. Leider zum letzten Mal - der ganze Wortwitz und die typische treffene Charakterisierung sind in den Bänden danach einfach nicht mehr da.

Lisa Jewell, The Girls

Viele Bücher fehlen mir nicht mehr von Jewell und das Buch ist das letzte von den etwas neueren Bänden. Wieder eine fast abgeschlossene Welt, ein Gartenparadies inmitten einer Wohnsiedlung, mit authentischer Charakterisierung aller Personen. Auch das Ende war überzeugend realistisch. Jetzt sollte ich mir die verbliebenen Bücher von Jewell lieber etwas aufsparen ..

Lisa Jewell, I found You

Das ist tatsächlich das erste Buch von der Autorin, das ich wiederlesen wollte, also denke ich mal, dass es einen bleibenden Eindruck hinterlassen hat. Vielleicht hab ich auch ein Faible für chaotische Familien und Geschichten um Gedächtnisverluste und geheimnisvolle Vergangenheiten, oder diese Themen funktionieren hier besonders gut. Oder beides.

Michael Connelly, The Night Fire

Eigentlich war es zum wiederlesen fast noch zu früh, aber ich konnte einfach nicht widerstehen, schon weil der Band direkt auf den "Dark Sacred Night" folgt, ohne ein anderes Buch aus dem Bosch-Universum dazwischen. Sehr faszinierend ist hier wie Connelly bei dem Hin und Her zwischen zwei Hauptfällen und diversen Nebenfällen die Spannung aufrecht erhält und zum Ende hin zwei Fälle miteinander verschmilzt. Durch den Wechsel der Perspektiven wird auch viel Zwischenhandlung und Zeit gespart. Jetzt wüßte ich gerne, ob Connelly das so weiter beibehalten will. Es wird sich wohl irgendwann herausstellen ...

Michael Connelly, Dark Sacred Night

Wenn ich nichts zu lesen habe, ist ein Band aus dem Bosch-Universum immer ein Garant für guten Lesestoff. Und der erste gemeinsame Band von Bosch und Ballard wollte schon länger wiedergelesen werden. Auch diesmal fand ich es erstaunlich, wie die beiden praktisch auf Anhieb zueinander finden.
